Ranking the Fielders

Ichiro SuzukiDo you have love for the glove? You should. And Stratogists will tell you which players can sling the best leather. Welcome to the 2007 Fielding Forecast. This year, we’re doing things a bit differently. Rather than forecast every player in the deck, including a multitude of utility infielders you don’t care about, we’re forecasting Strat-O-Matic’s ratings for the top 30 or so fielders at every position. Basically, we’re taking the 30 starters and adding a few hot rookies or super subs whom you may find interesting.

This tells managers drafting in new leagues who the best glove men are and will be a useful guide as keeper leaguers make trades for the next Strat season. Here’s how we rank them. We take the range rating and e-number and cross that with the OPS a hitter enjoys every time Strat tests the fielder. Read more...
